Girls outshine boys in Nashik division

Girls outshone the boys in the HSC examination in the Nashik division of the state education board, which registered 82.04% pass percentage this year.
Last year, this division had recorded a pass percentage of 85.03%. The Nashik division consists of four districts - Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar.
Board officials said that a total of 1,30,060 students appeared for the exam and 1,06,696 passed in all the subjects.
"Girls once again scored over the boys with the former registering a pass percentage of 85.71%, while the pass percentage of boys is 79.45 %. Nandurbar, the hilly district scored the highest pass percentage with 85.68%, followed by Jalgaon 84.86% and Dhule 83.02%. Nashik district scored the lowest pass percentage with 78.58%," the officials said.
According to the officials, most of the schools in tribal-dominated areas, ashramshalas and rural areas have secured 100% pass results. Whether this is a reflection of the improving quality of education in rural settings or is due to other reasons needs to be studied, the officials said.
