In Nashik city, Nashik court does not have own space

A family court was sanctioned for Nashik about five years ago, but it still does not exist as a separate entity due to lack of infrastructure.

What we lack most is the strong system of counseling which can help in most cases,” said advocate Shashiprabha Purpnapatre, practitioner family court matters, Nashik district court.

“The absence of a special family court has only increased the existing burden of cases on the courts. Most cases related to divorce petitions and restitution of conjugal rights are heard by civil judge senior division while maintenance suits are presided over by judicial magistrate first class.

There are matters related to property disputes and domestic violence which need speedy remedies, but that isn’t possible due to over burden,” said advocate Kiran Gunjal, practitioner, family court matters, Niphad, Taluka court.
