The Food and Drugs Administration
of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) undertook a drive to
test the adulteration level in the milk available in Dhule
district, civic officials said today.The drive was held yesterday and was led by Food
Inspector R D Suryavanshi who collected milk samples from 53
vendors and found out that 10 of them were adulterated, they
said.Action has been taken by the NMC officials after huge
stock of adulterated 'khava' (conglobated boiled milk) used to
prepare sweets was being seized by the FDA yesterday, they
said.The 'khava' was bought from Gujarat and was being sent
to Amravati and Latur, they said.The civic officials also collected samples of sweets
from city's reputed sweet marts and have sent it for
examination in Pune, Suryavanshi said adding "we have asked
the shop owners not to store 'khava', especially made from
cow's milk till we get reports from Pune."
