Two engineers arrested in Nashik city

Two senior government officials working with the garrison engineer's office of Indian Air Force at Nashik were on Wednesday arrested by the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch while accepting bribe.

The two were identified as R J Kukkar, assistant garrison engineer (contract), working with the office of GE (Independent), at Ojhar, Nashik and S T Patil, Junior Engineer (QS&C), in the same department.

CBI's deputy inspector general Praveen Salunke said that they have been booked under section 120-B IPC and section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

They have allegedly demanded bribe of Rs 70,000 for clearance of his running bill payments – and were caught red-handed while accepting Rs 50,000 from a contractor at Sai Palace Hotel, Nashik.

Searches at residential and office premises of the accused are in progress at Ojhar and Nasik.
