MNS activist stabbed to death in Nashik city

A student leader was allegedly stabbed to death in a clash between Maharashtra Navnirman Sena activists and a rival group in Panchavati locality Nashik city, police said today. Two groups allegedly clashed over fixing a hoarding near Panchavati Dental College following which irate MNS activists smashed window panes of the civil hospital's casualty ward, they said. Nilesh Gatkal, general secretary of city students' union of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was killed during the clash yesterday by unidentified persons, police said, adding the deceased was declared dead on being brought to the Nashik Civil Hospital. Meanwhile, four youths--Hemant Shetty, Kiran Sonawane, Gaurav Goverdhane, Babalu Sabale--have been arrested in this connection, they said. Earlier, MNS activists refused to take the dead body of the 22-year-old leader till arrests are made in the case. State general secretary of MNS Vasant Gite, Atul Chandak and other leaders have condoled the death of Nilesh. |
