90 students hospitalized in Nashik city

Ninety students of a government ashram school in Nashik were hospitalised after they complained of uneasiness due to food poisoning, police said on Sunday. The students (all aged between 10 and 12) of Rameshwer Government Ashram School in Devla Taluka were admitted following their meals late last night to Nashik, Kalvan and Devla hospitals, they said. The victims, who complained of vomitting and uneasiness suffered from food poisoning after consuming the dal prepared in the ashram kitchen, police said. Fifteen students, who were admitted in a serious condition to Nashik District Civil Hospital, are recuperating and are in a stable condition, hospital sources said. According to the police, the superintendent as well as the principal of the school were not present when incident took place following which irate villagers attacked the latter's car, when he visited the school last night.
