Banana is now officially a fruit. Patangarao Kadam, minister for relief and rehabilitation on Friday informed the legislative council that the Centre had accepted banana as a fruit and the state had decided to follow suit. This comes as a relief for banana farmers, who have been demanding fruit status for it.
