Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar from Nashik city was the pioneer to establish Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and start a degree course in Indian classical music. He was an Institution of Indian classical music in himself.
Mr V V Shirwadkar from Nashik city's original name was Gajanan Ranganath Shirwadkar. After he was adopted, his name changed to Vishnu Waman Shirwadkar. He is born in Pune on 27th February 1912 .
